Alabama coach Kristi Curry chose to have her post players Angel Reese double up once she caught the ball to open Monday night’s game.
Initially slowed to just two rebounds in the opening quarter, Reese adapted to pursue history with the LSU women’s basketball program. The sophomore star forward grabbed her 20th straight double-double record, 14 points and 14 rebounds, and helped LSU’s No. 4 win against Alabama (89-51) at the Coleman Coliseum to her 20th to lead in a row to start the season.
The Tigers (20-0, 8-0) extend their longest winning streak to 20 games and go on an extended break, host Tennessee on Jan. 30 (6 p.m. ESPN2) dialed in.

Angel Reese surpasses LSU basketball legend Sylvia Fowles’ double-double record
There have been a few games this season where Reese has started out of sync offensively due to the defenses she’s seen but changed her approach to get going.
The game in Alabama was no different. Kim Mulkey changed the team’s sets, launching the 6ft-4 forward into more space and rolling to the basket to fight double-teams.
Reese found her rhythm and secured her 20th straight double-double with 2:55 in the third quarter.
LSU is flipping it, but Alabama won’t make them pay
It was an ugly start to the game in Alabama for LSU, turning the ball over five times in the first four minutes. But the Crimson Tide failed to capitalize, amassing just two points fewer than the Tigers.
For the game, Alabama forced 15 LSU turnovers but converted them to just eight points.
LSU gets great performance from Jasmine Carson
When the Tide came into play, she was known for her 3-point shooting ability. But it was LSU senior shooting guard Jasmine Carson who made it rain.
Carson threw four 3s (4-fo-8) en route to 20 points, 16 of them in the first half. Carson’s early production was a perfect complement to Reese’s handling of double teams.
