Hudson Valley Diner serves “delicious” Sri Lankan food

The restaurant offers traditional Sri Lankan dishes such as Biryani, a rice dish with saffron, cashews, herbs and raisins, or Hopper, a crispy bowl-shaped pancake that can be served sweet or savory.

“We proudly serve traditional Sri Lankan and American cuisine,” the diner says on Facebook.

While the restaurant offers American food, what really makes this place special is its Sri Lankan buffet.

“Friday is buffet night, every dish was amazing,” Randie Jaffe said on Facebook. “You must try this place!”

I have been to the diner in person many times for a Friday night Sri Lankan buffet and have been delighted every time. I highly recommend the Deviled Pork or the Deviled Chicken and Hopper.

Red Pepper Diner moves to Beacon, New York

Red Pepper Diner moves to Beacon, New York. Owners expect to open the Beacon location next week.

The move brings the restaurant to Fishkill Avenue in Beacon, next to Stinson’s Hub.

The Beacon location will open on January 30, with the grand opening scheduled for February 3-5.

A Sri Lankan buffet will be served during the grand opening days from 5pm to 9pm and then every Friday from 5pm to 8pm

The same menu will be available at their Beacon location, the owners note.

Reason for moving to Beacon, New York

A spokesman for the restaurant said the Hudson Valley Post owners could not renew the lease with the Wappingers Falls location because the building is up for sale.
